As part of an extensive and ongoing streetscape improvement scheme by Westminster City Council and their term contractors FM Conway and WSP, Infotec was appointed to conduct detailed basement surveys to protect key underground structures within a number of high profile areas across the borough including Covent Garden, Regent Street, Trafalgar Square, New Bond Street and many others.
Given the complex survey conditions and often limited survey access within these high profile areas, Infotec devised a bespoke combination of techniques to comprehensively map and inspect the underground basement and vault structures whilst minimising impact and disruption to property owners and the public.
Surveys included a combination of electromagnetic detection, Ground Penetrating Radar and LiDAR Scanning techniques to ensure maximum data capture within densely serviced locations.
Comprehensive data provided from these surveys included detailed 3D CAD drawings and accompanying Pointcloud models which enabled the client to assess risk and plan streetscape works with confidence to maximise the enhancement of these iconic London landmarks whilst ensuring their careful protection.
